Each year, the Dalhousie Institute on Society and Culture hosts one or two Visiting Research Scholars funded through the Canada-U.S. Fulbright Foundation for Educational Exchange.

We invite applications from American scholars who are interested in pursuing research at Dalhousie in any area of the social sciences and humanities related to the study of cultures and the influence of globalization on social and personal identities.  Visting Chairs are expected to develop a program of research, develop collaborations and offer occasional guest lectures at the undergraduate or graduate level.  Junior scholars with promising research records as well as established senior scholars are encouraged to apply.


A letter of invitation is not required, but applicants are encouraged to contact the institution to discuss research interests.


Deadline for applications is August 1, 2011.

Length of Grant: 4 months or 9 months.
