Dalhousie University, according to Maclean's, is "the research powerhouse of Atlantic Canada." The Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences at Dalhousie has a tradition of scholarly excellence dating back to 1818.

Our award-winning researchers have explored subjects as diverse as Fidel Castro's Cuba, aboriginal justice, stringed instruments, federalism, medieval feast days, contemporary Canadian writers, language education, African-Canadian history, new reproductive technologies, NATO diplomacy, girl groups of the 60s, the politics of food, religion on the Internet, women's health, and theatre in Nova Scotia.

We invite you to read our work, attend our performances, and participate with us in the ever-exciting pursuit of new knowledge. All of this activity is yours to discover at the Dalhousie Institute on Society and Culture, our new virtual home for scholarly and creative achievements in the humanities, social sciences and the performing arts.
