1963
Donald Green, BA, LLB

Donald won the CPGA Super Sr. Canadian Golf Championship at Rattlesnake Point Golf Club in July 2010.  He joined the PGA in 2001 and continues to teach golf in Colingwood, ON, following a 30-year law career in Burlington and operating the Great Canadian Bagel in Halifax.

Mary Barker, BA
Mary was inducted into the College of Fellows of the Canadian Public Relations Association as an Honorary Fellow.  The award cited recognition of her exceptional professional capability, professional experience, contribution to the advancement of the profession and significant leadership in Public Relations.

Janice Zatzman Orlansky, BA
Currently working in Mayor Michael Bloomberg's initiative to reduce truancy in New York City public schools.  The program deployed success mentors to a core group of 25 schools that will test-pilot this initiative before it is brought to schools citywide.  Dr. Orlansky says that her work as a mentor is both frustrating and gratifying.

1971
Judith Boss, MA
Judith has published Deception Island, a suspense novel set in Antartica, now available through Amazon.com.  She also has five college textbooks with McGraw-Hill, two of which are among the top sellers in their field.  Judith currently lives with her family in the woods of southern Rhode Island.  When not writing or traveling to exotic places (including Antartica to research her books), she enjoys spending time with her children, grandchildren and corgi.

David G. Jones, BA, MA '73
Following a province-wide election, David Jones was elected Ontario representative to the board of directors of the 175,000-member National Association of Federal Retirees (FSNA).  He is currently based in Nepean, ON.

Chris Nordman, MA
Curtis has been busy since he left Dal in '72.  After completing his PhD at Oxford, he taught in the college system in B.C. for a number of years.  He spent 15 years with the Province of Manitoba in a number of capacities, most recently as head of the College Expansion Initiative.  He spent ten years as dean of Continuing Education at the director fo the Centre for Learning Technologies at the University of Winnipeg.  Most recently, Curtis was appointed chair of the Council on Post-Secondary Education, the government body which oversees colleges and universities in Manitoba.  Who says retirement is dull?

John Desserud, BA, MA '81
After 22 years, John recently left the University of New Brunswick to take up the position of dean of Arts at the University of Prince Edward Island.  He began the new job on July 1, 2011.

Mike Brownlow, MA

Has been named chief executive officer of Commissionaires Nova Scotia.  Mike joined the Commissionaires in 2006 following a career in teaching.  Mike and Maureen live in Dartmouth and have six children, eight grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Geoff Martin, BA
Is currently working as Assistant professor of continuous learning and political science at Mount Allison University.  He recently co-authored a book with his wife Erin Steuter, BA '84, MA '87, called Pop Culture Goes to War:  Enlisting and Resisting Militarism in the War on Terror.

W. Andy Knight, MA
Honoured with the Harry Jerome Trailblazer Award by the Canadian Black Business and Professional Association.  This event was at a gala in Toronto on April 24, 2010 with more than 2,000 people attending, including Prime Minister Stephen Harper.  Andy also has a new book out (with fellow alum Thomas Keating, PhD '92.)  Titled Global Politics, the books is published by Oxford University Press and was released on April 7, 2010.

Tracey, along with Stephen Henderson and big brother Robert, would like to announce that they were chosen as the "forever family" for newly adopted baby girl, Kathleen Beatrice, who joined the family on June 11, 2010.  Tracey is a paediatrician in Truro, NS.

Tory Thorkelson, BA
Recently completed his first module of the Doctorate or Professional Studies from Middlesex University in the UK.  The program allows him to capitalize on his EFL experience in Korea and Japan, as well as his KOTESOL experience at all levels.  He is currently associate professor of English Language and Literature at Hanyang University in Seoul.

Glen Ward, BA, BSc '98
Is pleased to announce his marriage to fellow alum Dianne (Winsor) Ward, BSc '96, BScPharm '00.  The couple was wed in Shediac, NB on September 4, 2010.  Dianne currently manages Lawtons' largest longterm care pharmacy in Bedford.  Glen is Regional Vice-President, Eastern Canada for Mortgage Accountants.

Kristen has published two new books.  The Thoracic Surgeons:  Bogota, Colombia is an in-depth look at these thoracic surgeons, their history and practices.  The second book, Bogota!  A hidden gem guide to surgical tourism, is a guide for medical students.  Both books are available at Amazon.com

Marni Tuttle, BA, BSc
Marni left Dalhousie after almost twenty years to pursue new challenges as corporate director of philanthropic relations at Northwood Group of Companies.  Marni says it's been a privilege to work at Dalhousie since 1996.  Whether it was on the road, through Facebook, on the phone or wandering around campus, the opportunity to meet, greet and engage alumni was always rewarding and often fun.  She will miss many coworkers, and the volunteers and donors who help Dalhousie.

Katharine Shingler, BA
After working as a television and print journalist for nearly a decade, Katharine has accepted a position in 2008 at the national public think-tank, the Institute for Research on Public Policy.  She is enjoying her role as communications director, helping to disseminate research findings through media coverage nad targeted outreach to Canada's policy community.  After graduating from Dalhousie, Katharine completed Concordia University's graduate journalism programme and is currently studying public relations management at McGill University.
